In 1995 the name of the scholarship was changed from the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club to the Mike Reid Memorial Scholarship.  Mike Reid, a respected and active member of the ski club, died suddenly in 1995 at age 35.  He had been a talented athlete, a positive role model, and a mentor to young athletes at both the local and provincial level. The scholarship was renamed in his memory.
