Big Welcome to our new Coach, Andrew Casey

Caledonia Nordic Ski Club is pleased to announce that Andrew Casey has been hired as the club coach effective July 1st 2012. Andrew comes to us from the province of Newfoundland Labrador where he most recently was the provincial coach and technical director for Cross Country NL. He has also been head coach of the Avalon Nordic Ski Club in Saint John’s where he developed and coached club programs from jackrabbits and track attack to masters. Andrew led the NL provincial team to its best finish in recent years at the 2012 Canadian National Championships in Mont St-Anne and was nominated for Sport NL coach of the year.

Besides NCCP coaching certification Andrew’s qualifications include Cross Country official’s certification and a Bachelor of Kinesiology.

He has a long list of athletic accomplishments including participation and top placing in national and international events including Canada Winter Games at Bathurst NB and Whitehorse YT, three Ski Nationals, World University Games in Turin and numerous NORAM competitions. Andrew has been a member of the Cross Country Canada national development squad and trained at the National Team Development Centre in Thunder Bay.

Andrew is an outdoor sport enthusiast and enjoys cross country running, road cycling, triathlon, climbing, canoe tripping, backpacking and hiking. Andrew and his fiancé will be married in June and make the journey to BC to begin their careers. Erica Pritchett/Casey will begin her medical residency in family practice in Prince George.
