Skier Development Programs (SDP)

For children and youth

Ski development programs are an amazing way to help children and youth grow and develop their cross country skills and techniques. Cross country skiing can be enjoyed as an individual sport but also enjoyed as being part of a team, a club, a community.

Skier Development Programs are designed to:

  • Help children and youth develop a positive self-image and build confidence.
  • Provide an opportunity to connect with peers and families that enjoy cross country skiing and the outdoors.
  • Develop, grow, and advance fundamental movement skills.
  • Help develop an awareness and appreciation of our natural environment during the winter.
  • Introduce an activity that can be enjoyed at any stage of life and the healthy lifestyle associated with the sport.

Our programs are designed for to benefit long-term athlete development (LTAD). LTAD is an inclusive model that encourages all individuals to be involved in lifelong physical activity. We follow the ‘Sport for Life’ model and believe that the experiences of our youth will influence their future. That is why at Caledonia Nordic Ski Club “we strive to create a happy environment and atmosphere that promotes Sport for Life”.

We have many different programs to choose from. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you are looking for something specific.

The CNSC is where you belong to a community to unwind, to learn, to live, to laugh.

The success of our programs hinge on volunteer coaches and parent help in a variety of disciplines. We ask that for every child registered in the program, there is volunteer help from at least one parent. Parents are asked to find a volunteer role that best suits their schedule, interest and abilities.

The club requires both new and experienced coaches at various levels, so if you are interested in coaching and don’t necessarily want to coach your own child, that’s not a problem. We’ll help you find a suitable coaching role. The club provides coach training, and you provide your time and knowledge to develop future athletes.

If you would prefer a volunteer task that does not involve coaching, fantastic! We’ve got tasks for you. There is a section of volunteer opportunities on the Zone4 registration to identify your interests. Thank you to all our volunteers!

Become a Coach

You don't have to be the best skier, you just have to love the sport. Adults and teen coaches can make a positive impact, develop valuable skills, and build meaningful relationships with athletes, fellow coaches, and members of our CNSC community.

Thank you to our generous funding sponsors and partners for supporting our skier development programs

This project was funded by, or funded in part by, a grant from viaSport BC and the Province of British Columbia.
