The Caledonia Nordic Land-based Learning Programs are designed to foster deep connections to nature, respect for Indigenous wisdom, and the development of critical skills, our programs align with the BC Curriculum and incorporate experiential learning in the great outdoors.
Our program inspires curiosity, strengthens cultural awareness, promotes environmental stewardship, and empowers future leaders. Programs are at the CNSC on our boreal forest trails, encouraging students to embrace outdoor learning.
Caledonia Nordic wants to ensure your students have the opportunity to move, explore, and play in nature!

Program Rate & Number of Students
Minimum 15 students required and a maximum of 30 students.
We want to make sure students, teachers, adult helpers, and our instructors are set up for success! Depending on the age and needs of your class, the adult to child ratio improves everyone’s experience. We appreciate having two adults (such as the teacher, TA, parent helper) per 6-8 children to aid the instructor during the lesson.
Typical Day
A typical day at Caledonia looks like this:
- Buses arrive around 9:15am
- Students will have an opportunity to use the washrooms and fill water bottles
- We will then head out to the Outdoor Learning Shelter using either the singletrack or Nordic trail system depending on conditions and timing
- Once at the shelter, students will split into three groups
Each group will participate in three different program sessions throughout the day:
- One session led by Caledonia staff
- One session led by your Indigenous Education Worker (IEW)
- One session led by the classroom teacher or EA/CSC
We can provide lesson plans and activity support as needed, including options such as shelter building and nature scavenger hunts.
The day will include:
- Two morning sessions
- Lunch break (please note lunch is not provided)
- One afternoon session
We will return to the buses for pickup at approximately 1:30pm, which should allow schools to return in time for the end-of-day bell.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone out on the land soon!
