"Explore More" Ski and Snowshoe Tours (*Please Read Carefully*)

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED - REGISTER EARLY, SPACE IS LIMITED! 

All Seniors/55+ will receive a 50% discount on ski or snowshoe trail passes and rentals all day on Mondays during January, February and March 2022.

COVID PROTOCOLS: Vaccine Passports and photo identification will need to be shown on the first day. Masks must be worn indoors except while eating. 

Classic Cross-Country Ski Lesson and Tours 2022

Join our senior/55+ cross-country ski instructors and volunteers for one ski lesson and three weeks of guided classic cross-country ski tours of the various ski trails at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club. The lesson and tours will start at 1:00 p.m. on Mondays and will be approximately 1.5 hours in length. Four levels of lesson/tours to accommodate different ability levels will be available. If the temperature is below -15oC at 12 noon, the scheduled session will be postponed and hopefully rescheduled. A social with hot beverages and snacks will held in the Lodge each week. 

Participants must sign up for only one four-week session that consists of 1 lesson + 3 tours.  Participants cannot sign up for both session 1 and 2.  Participants cannot pick and choose dates from session 1 & 2.  

Session 1 of the Ski Lesson + Tours will be Mondays January 10, 17, 24 and 31. (If there is a cancellation due to cold weather the make-up session will be Monday February 7)

Session 2 of the Ski Lesson + Tours will be Mondays February 14, 21, 28 and March 7. (If there is a cancellation due to cold weather the make-up session will be Monday March 14)

During registration, participants must select one of these 4 ability level groups:

Level 4 (Blue-Black): For intermediate to advanced skiers (skiing blue and black ski trails with moderate & steep hills*)

Level 3 (Blue): For intermediate skiers (skiing blue ski trails with moderate hills*).

Level 2 (Blue-Green): For intermediate skiers (skiing green and blue ski trails with some easy & moderate hills*)

Level 1 (Green): For beginner skiers and those skiers who like a slower pace (skiing green ski trails with flatter terrain with gentle slopes*)

Non-members must purchase half-priced ski trail passes online with registration (Cost including GST: $12.50 X 4 sessions = $50)).

Half-priced rental equipment for seniors/55+ will be available and can be pre-booked online with registration (Cost including GST: $9.71 X 4 sessions = $38.84)

If the temperature is below -15oC at 12 noon, the scheduled session will be postponed and hopefully rescheduled. 

Cost is $0; Non-Members must purchase half price trail pass sets.

12 Week Guided Tour on the posted route for the Grand Tour of Caledonia 2022

Every Tuesday at 11am. starting on Tuesday January 11 and running through to March 29, 2022 (12 weeks) – weather permitting

Join our senior/55+ cross-country ski instructor and volunteers for twelve weeks of guided classic cross-country ski tours on the weekly posted route for the Grand Tour of Caledonia. The tours will start at 11am on Tuesdays and will be 1 - 2.5 hours, depending on the length of the posted route. If the temperature is below -15oC at 10am or snow conditions are unsuitable, the scheduled session will be cancelled. Participants must be competent blue-level classic cross-country skiers. Routes vary in length from 5 km – 15+ km and routes utilize a combination of green/easy, blue/intermediate, and black/advanced level trails. Each Monday morning that week’s Grand Tour of Caledonia route will be posted on Grand Tour of Caledonia Challenge | Caledonia Nordic Ski Club. Participants can also register on this link for the Grand Tour of Caledonia; registration entitles participants to post their weekly times and be eligible for weekly prizes, tour finisher medal and buff. 

NOTE: Registering for the Grand Tour of Caledonia is not a requirement to participate in the Seniors/55+ Weekly Guided Tours. 

The Grand Tour of Caledonia is NOT A SKI RACE; it provides participants with an opportunity to challenge themselves to try new trails and routes. The Seniors/55+ Guided Tours provide an excellent opportunity for participants wanting to do the Grand Tour of Caledonia but lacking the comfort level to do it alone. 

Non-members must purchase half-priced ski trail passes online with registration (Cost including GST is $12.50 X 12 sessions = $150). NOTE: It may be more cost-effective to purchase a club membership!

Half-priced rental equipment for seniors/55+ will be available and can be pre-booked online with registration (Cost including GST is $9.71 X 12 Sessions = $116.52).

Cost is $0; Non-Members must purchase half price trail pass sets.

"Explore More" Snowshoe Tours

Join our senior/55+ snowshoe leaders and volunteers for guided snowshoe tours of the various snowshoe trails at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club. Tours will start at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and will be approximately 1.5 hours in length. Three levels of tours to accommodate different ability levels will be available. If the temperature is below -15oC at 12 noon, the scheduled session will be postponed and hopefully rescheduled. A social with hot beverages and snacks will held in the Lodge after each tour. 

Participants must sign up for only one session of 3 tours, participants cannot sign up for both sessions 1 and 2.  Participants cannot pick and choose dates from Sessions 1 & 2.  

Session 1 of the Snowshoe Tours will be Wednesdays January 12, 19, and 26. (If there is a cancellation due to cold weather the make-up session will be Wednesday February 2)

Session 2 of the Snowshoe Tours will be Wednesdays February 9, 16, and 23. (If there is a cancellation due to cold weather the make-up session will be Wednesday March 2)

Cost is $0; Non-Members must purchase half price trail pass sets.

A SHORT SNOWSHOE LESSONS WILL BE PROVIDED AT THE START OF THE FIRST TOUR

During registration, participants must select one of these 3 ability level groups:

Level 3 (Blue): For intermediate snowshoers comfortable with a medium pace and moderate hills (blue level trails). 

Level 2 (Green-Blue): For intermediate snowshoers comfortable with a medium pace and gentle to moderate hills (a combination of blue and green level trails).

Level 1 (Green): For beginners and snowshoers who prefer a flatter terrain and gentler hills (green level trails). 

Non-members must purchase half-priced snowshoe trail passes online with tour registration (Cost including GST: $4.36 X 4 = $17.44)

Half-priced rental equipment for seniors/55+ will be available and can be pre-booked online with tour registration (Cost including GST: $5.51 X 4 = $22.04)
