Fitness, fellowship, food and fun
You may have snowshoed a few times, or you have never snowshoed but want to try a new winter sport. You may have health or mobility issues which mean that you prefer a flatter route or a shorter outing. This group might have a one hour hike rather than 1.5 hours. Please tell your leader and the ski patrol if you have health issues that may affect you, and if you want to go back to the lodge, there will be a helper/host who will accompany you.
Fitness level: If you’re going to an appointment and you park close to the door, and always take the elevator, this is the group that you should choose.
You have hiked or snowshoed before and have an adequate fitness level to manage a 1.5 hour hike on uneven terrain. You prefer the flatter routes with smaller hills. Poles are suggested to help with balance. Your leader will choose the trails that suit the group, and there will be hosts/helpers with your group.
Fitness level: if you go to an appointment, you park farther away from the door and you sometimes take the stairs, choose this group.
You have a good fitness level and are open to trying new trails. You can climb to some of the higher elevations maintaining a moderate pace. Your leader will suggest rest stops, or you may request one. Please carry a pack with water. Poles are recommended especially for the downhill sections. Your group will have a host/helper who will be the ‘caboose’ to ensure no one gets left behind.
Fitness level: If you take two flights of stairs (unless your doctor is checking your blood pressure), choose level 3.
You are an experienced snowshoer or hiker. You are fit and ready to explore more of the upper trails at a steady pace. This group will go farther than the other groups. You should carry a pack with water, a snack, extra gear and other supplies.
Fitness level: If you walk regularly and can keep up a conversation, or if you see taking the stairs to keep fit, you’re ready for this group.
