About the Program

Bunny Tots is the program for the youngest of the Caledonia Nordic family and the most adorable first step of the Skill Development Program. These eager 3-year-olds are in the “Active Start” portion of the Long-Term Athlete Development (“LTAD”) guideline.

This program is all about having fun on skis, filled with lots of games and activities. Bunny Tots requires parent participation and caregivers are expected to join in the fun. Lessons are one hour or less in duration and are followed by a snack. Bunny Tots and parents are invited to participate in all extra Skill Development Program events.

Important notes:

• Practice details are communicated using the SDP Calendar and Slack. The calendar can also be located on the CNSC website under the Events tab. Please check for this calendar closer to the session start date, as it is still under development.
• Winter Training Sessions will be held at Otway Nordic Center unless otherwise noted.
• Our Cold Weather Policy will guide any decisions on program cancellations.

What to wear and what equipment you need

Kids (and their grown-ups!) can play safely and comfortably outdoors when they’re dressed appropriately and have the right equipment. Here are some tips on how to thrive outside:

• The 2 main keys to dressing appropriately are to choose the right types of fabric and layer them effectively.
• Choose layers that are made of fleece, wool, polyester or acrylic blends.
• Always avoid cotton if you can as it collects and holds on to moisture which can then chill the skin when it’s cold and lead to a drop in body temperature.
• Wear warm socks, waterproof mitts, snow pants, jacket, and a toque that stays on!
• Rent or bring no-wax skis (approximately the height of your skier).
• Rent or bring XC Boots (ensure they fit comfortably).
